About FrameCoach

What is FrameCoach?

FrameCoach is a free game settings optimizer. Tell it your GPU, CPU, and a game, set your FPS goal, and it recommends the smartest settings to hit your target — then explains exactly how each setting affects your frame rate so you understand why, not just what to change.

Unlike tools that silently apply a preset, FrameCoach shows its work. Every setting has a plain-English explanation, a visual-quality cost, and a per-option FPS breakdown. You can override any recommendation and watch the FPS estimate react live.

Why we built it

Existing tools are either vendor-locked (GeForce Experience is NVIDIA-only), opaque (they just change settings without explaining them), or generic (one setting guide for everyone, regardless of hardware). FrameCoach is cross-vendor — NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, and handhelds like the Steam Deck — and puts the explanation front and centre.

How the estimates work

FPS figures come from a generalized model: hardware performance scores × game demand × per-setting impact weights. They are informed estimates, not live benchmarks — real performance varies by scene, drivers, and game version. We are transparent about this because we think honest estimates are more useful than false precision.

What's coming

• More hand-tuned games — we're expanding coverage of real per-game settings menus.
• Better accuracy — crowdsourced real-world FPS data (opt-in) will sharpen the estimates over time.
• A desktop app — auto-detects your hardware, reads each game's real settings, and (with your permission) applies the recommended config. No manual input, no menu-diving.
